Kurapaty: A. Shaternik restored “Clinton’s bench”
Radio Free Europe reports, that a memorial symbol “from the people of United States of America to the people of Belarus for remembrance” or so called “Clinton’s bench” today was installed once again in Kurapaty.
It was restored by sculptor Ales Shaternik (Ales Saternik). Executive secretary of the Conservative Christian Party of BPF (Belarusan Popular Front) Ales Chakholsky (Ales Cacholski) and activists of the same party Mikhas Sazon (Michas Sazon) and Aleh Radziuk (Aleh Radziuk) helped him to install it.
After installation of the bench in January 1994 by president of USA Bill Clinton, 12 times this memorial symbol was desecrated by vandals. Law machinery has never found nor punished the criminals.
